Vaughan Autism Clinic

Occupational Therapy & Sensory Integration

Our Occupational Therapists help children develop the skills they need for daily living, from fine motor tasks like writing and buttoning to sensory regulation and self-care activities. Through sensory integration therapy, we create a sensory-friendly environment that helps children regulate their responses to stimuli, improve attention, and enhance overall functioning. Evidence-based research shows that sensory integration therapy significantly improves occupational performance and daily life satisfaction.

Key Benefits

How It Works

Our occupational therapy begins with a comprehensive evaluation to assess your child’s motor skills, sensory processing abilities, daily living skills, and areas where support is needed. Based on this assessment, our registered Occupational Therapists develop an individualized treatment plan with specific goals.

Therapy sessions are conducted in our sensory-friendly clinic, which is designed to support children with sensory sensitivities. We use sensory integration techniques to help children process and respond to sensory information—whether they’re oversensitive, undersensitive, or seeking sensory input.

We work on fine motor skills like handwriting, cutting, and buttoning, as well as gross motor skills like balance, coordination, and body awareness. We also focus on daily living tasks such as dressing, feeding, and hygiene, helping children develop greater independence.
